My experience at Mercedes-Benz of Reading

I would not recommend Mercedes Benz of Reading because the main reason is I felt they just wanted to get rid of the Porsche. For my experience there was a lack of customer care. I went all the way from Ripon, North Yorkshire to look at the car with that full intention of buying it. Even though I asked for it to be checked carefully and specifically asked if there was damage to the car body and wheels to which the answer was no, I also asked for the car to have some electric charge in it as I wanted to test the hybrid system. When I arrived the car had been washed and vacuumed but I felt it wasn't prepped properly, there was a string smell of dog. I told the salesperson (Daniel)? I would arrive around 1pm but when I arrived I was told he was busy and another colleague would take me on the test drive. She knew nothing about the car which is understandable but she also had no idea where to go and could not suggest a route so I just drove it around randomly for a bit, the car had zero electric charge which was very annoying.
After getting back I checked the car, it was overcast and raining so it wasn't easy but I noticed three of the wheels had damage. I asked for £1000 discount to proceed to return but that was rejected by the manager and I was offered to have the wheels fixed by Vertu once I took the car back home and I agreed to this as I liked the car . After completing the paperwork and payment I just drove the car away. Normally someone from management would come out to thank and congratulate me on my purchase, shake my hand before I leave etc etc - not massively important but it adds to the buying experience. Getting the car home and checking the car again, only then did I notice a deep scratch on the rear bumper and three dents, I asked the contact for the wheel repair if they covered dents and they said no. Being quite fed up and disappointed with the whole thing I just organised my own repairer to come and take the dents out.

I appreciate it is a Mercedes dealer and if I had bought a Mercedes the car may have been inspected and prepped better but for me it's still very below par when comparing to my previous experiences with Stratstone / Lloyds Mercedes/ BMW etc etc. It felt like a car supermarket or small dealer experience.
Taking into account the professional cleaning to get rid of the dog smell and removing the dents the car turned out to be less of a good buy than expected and it was a lesson learned.
